About the webinar: Pediatric mental health emergency department (ED) visits are increasing across the United States, with a notable rise in cases requiring de-escalation for acute behavioral dysregulation. To address this trend, timely and standardized implementation of behavioral strategies and medications is crucial, as it can potentially reduce the reliance on physical restraints. Simulation-based training has emerged as an effective method to enhance provider and staff comfort, skill, knowledge, and application of evidence-based clinical care practices. This approach can significantly improve outcomes for pediatric patients experiencing behavioral escalation. In this presentation, we will explore the experience of one institution that has successfully integrated simulation into the evaluation and management of pediatric behavioral crises in the ED setting.
